How We Apply The Systems

Preparing Your Exterior Walls

Ensure your exterior walls are clean and free of loose debris, paint and algae.  In some cases, power washing with chemicals may be necessary to achieve a clean, dirt-free surface.  Then, apply a suitable primer depending on the type of brick or block.

Covering Doors, Windows, Driveways and Patios

I Protect your property by covering all doors, windows, driveways and patios. This is a core value of my company.

Adding Render Beads

To achieve clean, sharp edges around windows, external corners and other features, secure the render beads in place with bead adhesive.

Applying the Base Coat

Apply a first coat to a 6mm depth, either machine-sprayed or hand-applied, depending on the circumstances and requirements.  This coat is applied with a mesh slightly embedded to strengthen and prevent cracking. This is a key component of a strong basecoat.

A second coat is then applied to a 4mm depth, left to dry and machine or hand-rubbed to a smooth finish.

Allow the render to cure, usually 24 hours or according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. This can take up to 36 or 48 hours depending on conditions.

Applying a Silicone Primer

Once the base coat is cured, apply a silicone primer . This will match the colour of the top coat and is left to dry.

Applying the Top Coat

Once the primer is fully dry, apply the final silicone top coat, either machine-sprayed or hand-applied.

Fitting External Wall Insulation

  • Insulation Boarding: A starter track is fixed at the base of the wall to create a level foundation. Insulation boards, typically made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) or mineral wool, are then secured to the exterior using a combination of specialized adhesive and mechanical fixings to ensure long-term stability against wind and weather.

  • Reinforcement Layer: Once the boards are in place, a polymer-modified basecoat is applied. A glass fibre reinforcing mesh is embedded into this wet coat to provide structural strength and prevent future cracking.

  • Decorative Finish: After a primer is applied to ensure adhesion and color consistency, a final decorative topcoat—usually a breathable silicone or mineral render—is applied. This provides a durable, weatherproof finish in the homeowner's chosen color and texture.

  • Reinstatement: Finally, all external fixtures are reattached, and window sills are often extended to accommodate the new wall thickness.
